About this site
This is a work in progress to create a website to preserve SoCo Homebrew All-Grain recipes before the store closes.
This site creates web pages with the basic ingredients, then links to the saved PDFs.
See the Recipes page.
How this was done
There were several iterations, and some of those saved versions are in the archive/ folder.
All AI prompts and conversations referenced here are now in the
prompts/folder on Github.
- I used Posit Assistant (an AI tool by posit built into RStudio) to build the scraper and pull all the pdfs. See the original prompt
pai-01-scrape.qmd. This yielded the filex-scrape.qmdthat is now in theRfolder. It took me about 5 minutes to write the prompt. It took working with PA another 15 minutes to get a test version of the scraper, and then 10 minutes for it to download them. (I didn’t save that full conversation with Posit Assistant). - I used PA again to make most of the indexes. You can see the prompts in
pai-02-indexes.qmd. I also saved the full conversation in the prompts folder. - I used PA to extract some key information from the PDFs to put into a csv. Prompt in
pai-03-extract.qmd.It got most of the way there before I ran out of credits, so I did some cleanup in the filedata-processed/receipes.xlsx. Conversation is also in prompts. - While working on the PDF extracts, I ran out of Posit Assistant credits, so I moved to Claude Code to help find the PDFs that had boiling additions that I missed on the first pass. Those instructions are at
pai-04-boilextracts.qmd. - I used Posit Assistant (after subscribing) to build a parameters-based workflow to crate a basic HTML page for each recipe, which then links to the PDF.
pai-06-reports.qmdis in prompts, but there was more conversation to fix everything that I didn’t save.
